Beard Brigade Comedy Show

Derek Sheen set to headline the Beard Brigade Comedy Show June 28 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Kazabra Club, Bldg. 2057 in Vogelweh.

Derek Sheen is a cuddly mess of insecurities and a gifted, one-of-a-kind storyteller. His ability to mine humor from the dark, humid corners of the human condition has made him a cult favorite of comedy nerds around the globe. He has amassed a pretty loyal fan base touring with comedy legends (name-drop alert!) Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt and Janeane Garofalo. Lucy Tollefson is a writer, comedian and sports fan based in Seattle, WA. Lucy won Seattle’s “Comedy Clash” competition in 2019 and has performed in the 2019 Salem Comedy and Spirits Festival (MA), Intersections Festival 2019 (WA), 2019 L.A. Laugh Riot Grrrl Fest, Alaska B4U Die Festival 2022, and the 2023 Upper Left Festival. Lucy is the head editor of Partially Obstructed Views and has been published in The Syndrome Mag, Robot Butt and Greener Pastures. They also completed the Second City's Writing Satire for the Internet program, so they have a certificate to prove they are funny. Lucy performs regularly around Washington, Oregon, and wherever else they have a friends couch to crash on.

Greg Houston, from Ottawa by way of small town Ontario, has been entertaining Canada for over 6 years. His silly observations and storytelling style brings the big beavertail to life and always leaves audiences wanting more. Just don’t feed him pizza after midnight…Smart and hip, Greg wows audiences with his nuanced perspective about life and the struggle. A cleaner comedic approach gives him the ability to perform to any crowd and bring them along for a roller coaster ride of laughs. Selected to open for Tig Notaro – Bronson Centre September 2016, Winner of the ‘Funniest of the Fringe’ Award Winner – Kingston Storefront Fringe Festival and Winner of the Ottawa Comedy Awards Best Newcomer 2012.

Matt Fischer, originally from Brooklyn, NY, has been teaching at DODEA for the last 10 years. He was the winner of the March 2024 New Stand Up Contest in Stuttgart and earned a spot in this show!
