Estimated Itinerary

An early morning departure from your choice of Pulaski or Smith Barracks will allow you to arrive in Garmisch-Partenkirchen by midday. While your rooms at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort are not guaranteed to be ready until the afternoon, you can leave your luggage with the front desk and begin your adventure in the heart of the Bavarian Alps. You can ascend to the glacier at the top of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak, or visit the AlpspiX viewing platform, which offers a breathtaking overlook of the beautiful Bavarian landscape.

Saturday: Free Day in Garmisch or Day Trip to Munich

A difficult decision awaits you today: Will you remain in Garmisch for another day of springtime adventures, or will you visit Munich?

Should you choose Munich, your day can begin with a stroll through Marienplatz, the city's central square, to see the famed Glockenspiel chime at 11 a.m. Afterward, a visit to the vibrant Viktualienmarkt is a must for a traditional Bavarian lunch amidst bustling stalls of fresh produce and local delicacies. You can then embrace the season's bloom with a walk through the magnificent English Garden, one of the world's largest urban parks.

This weekend, the city comes alive with the Spring Festival (Frühlingsfest) on the Theresienwiese. For almost 60 years, the people of Munich have been hosting "Oktoberfest’s Little Sister," a smaller, more family-friendly event that will give you a taste of the Bavarian capital’s largest annual festival. Whether you spend your day at the Theresienwiese enjoying the carnival rides and food stands or exploring the city's streets and museums, you will surely soak in a year's worth of Bavarian Gemütlichkeit. At the end of the day, it's just a short ride back to Garmisch for another comfortable evening at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort.

Sunday: Return

After enjoying the sunrise over the Wetterstein Alps and a hearty breakfast buffet, your coach will return you to Rheinland-Pfalz. Expect a relaxed journey, arriving at your starting point in the afternoon.
