Cologne Zoo was founded in 1860 and features over 10,000 animals of more than 850 species on more than 60 acres.
The internationally renowned zoo with an attached aquarium and invertebrate exhibit is actively breeding animals that are in danger of becoming extinct. In addition, the zoo has partnered up with Cologne University and local organizations to promote in-the-wild conservation and research that focus on animals of Madagascar, Wallacea, and Vietnam , to include Przewalski's horses.
