Spend Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend skiing the high-alpine slopes of Saas-Fee, Switzerland, a snow-sure resort known for dramatic glacier scenery and a charming car-free village atmosphere.

Saas-Fee is built for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Beginners can build confidence on gentle learning areas, intermediates can enjoy long blue and red runs, and stronger riders can take on steeper black pistes and freeride terrain. With slopes rising to nearly 11,500 feet and 150 kilometers of terrain across four ski areas, Saas-Fee offers the kind of snow conditions many lower-altitude resorts can’t match.

What makes this trip even more special is the village itself. Because Saas-Fee is car-free, you can walk peacefully through snow-covered lanes lined with traditional Swiss chalets, boutiques, après-ski spots, and classic mountain restaurants. Your stay includes 3 nights in the village, daily breakfast, free equipment rental, and a SaastalCard for local discounts, while your hotel includes a dedicated equipment storage room with heated boot racks, plus a sauna and jacuzzi.

  • 429 per person plus room costs
    • Single Room: +$499 per room
    • Classic Double Room: +$729 per room for maximum of 2 people
    • Superior Double Room: +$829 per room for maximum of 2 adults and 1 child under 12

Deadline: Monday, January 4
Unused hotel rooms will be released back to the vendor on the deadline. 
Empty seats on the transport vehicle do not guarantee hotel availability once the room release deadline has passed. 
Rebooking fees may apply to reservations made on or after Tuesday, January 5

Trip Includes:

  • Round trip transportation
  • 3 nights lodging in the mountain village at Hotel Etoile
  • Daily breakfast
  • Free Ski/Snowboard equipment rental
     
  • Lift Tickets or clothing rental not included

What to Bring:

  • Skis or snowboard, boots, poles, hat or helmet, sunglasses or goggles, sunscreen
  • Waterproof outerwear including mittens or gloves and multiple layers of inner clothing
  • Credit/Debit card or Swiss Francs
  • Military ID and passport  
     
  • Any required paper or electronic travel documentation is the personal responsibility of each traveler

Departure:

  • 6 a.m. from Wagon Wheel Theater, Smith Barracks
  • 7 a.m. from Kaiserslautern Outdoor Recreation, Pulaski Barracks, bldg. 2905 

Return: Monday Evening

Cancellation Terms: 

  • 10% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or prior to Sunday, January 3
  • 100% cancellation fee for all cancellations made on or after Monday, January 4
     
  • In the event that a customer cancellation results in a fee charged to Outdoor Recreation, regardless of the date of or reason for that cancellation, the total sum of those fees will be passed along to the customer.
